Hurricane Katrina Information For students and Exchange visitors

A note to international  Student and Exchange Visitors , Please note the  30 day  reporting  requirement for international students and Exchange Visitors is in effect even for those who have been impacted by Hurricane Katrina.  For reporting and, ability to find temporary housing, and the ability to transfer to another SEVIS-certified school contact your school officials. If you are attending a school that is affected by Hurricane Katrina, and are unable to contact your Designated School Official, or for identifying approved schools by Immigration department, please contact this office on (202) 305-2346, and also to follow up with them for updates on qualifying schools  and other  communication. Note that you cannot just transfer to any school also for those who had any pending cases with the immigration in affected areas, you will need to follow up with Immigration offices in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia or some in Mississippi. If you do not follow the stipulated immigration rules, you will fall out of status regardless of what misfortune has taken place. Remember ignorance is not an excuse and Information is power.
